Welcome back for Term 4, 2017!

This year we have three Stage 3 classes:

4/5F - Miss Stacey Frazer

5/6K - Mr Sean Kelleher

5/6S - Mrs Pauline Smith

In Term 4, 5/6K and 5/6S students will be researching a Theme unit called 'Australian Identity and Values'. Students from 4/5F will be researching a Theme unit called 'Travelling Asia'. These units have a History and Geography base and will allow students to compare traditional and modern Australian values as well as research our neighbouring countries.

All classes will visit the library for an hour each week, where they will borrow  and complete visual literacy lessons with Mrs Pearce.

The 'Daily 5' program will continue to run during literacy time. This involves students working through the rotations of Read to Self, Word Work, Read to Someone, Work on Writing and Listen to Reading. These rotations incorporate spelling tasks, writing activities and guided reading groups. This term each class is completing a newspaper writing unit.

Students will participate in PE lessons with Mr Crawley. Throughout Term 4, these lessons will focus on FMS (Fundamental Movement Skills) and minor sports and games. Please ensure students wear appropriate footwear on their PE day.

Mathletics and Reading Eggs will continue to be used to support the learning of students in both English and Mathematics. Students are able to access these programs online from home, using their username and password from school. They will also develop other technology skills using word processing, email and other online tools. Our Writing focus is imaginative texts and we are looking at traditional and fractured Fairy Tales.

We look forward to working with you and your child. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's teacher or the Stage Three Assistant Principal, Mrs Pauline Smith.
